01 · Planning

Every job starts from an agreed bill of materials.

Bills of materials and routings set out what each product needs and which operations it goes through. Work orders are raised from them, so the shop floor builds what was quoted.

02 · Shop floor

Job cards show where every order stands.

Each operation has its job card, with hours booked against it. Production managers see which orders are on schedule, which are waiting for material and which are behind.

03 · Traceability

Trace any finished item back to its material.

Material issued to a work order keeps its batch or serial number, and its certificate stays with it. When a client asks what went into an item, the answer is one search away.

04 · Job costing

Know what each job really cost, against what you quoted.

Material, labour and overhead are gathered on every work order. Directors see the margin on each job as it closes, and which products earn their keep.

Approvals in this module

Material and cost changes need a yes.

How approvals work
  • Material requests

Material for a work order approved before it’s issued.

  • Purchases for a job

Bought against the job’s budget, approved by amount.

  • Bill of materials changes

Approved before new work orders use them.

FAQ

Manufacturing questions

Can we see a job’s cost while it’s still on the floor?

Yes. Material, labour and overhead build up on the work order as they are booked, so the cost to date is always visible, not only when the job closes.

Can we trace a finished item to its material certificate?

Yes. Material issued to a work order keeps its batch or serial number, and the certificate attached to that batch stays with it.

Does it suit a fabrication yard as well as a factory?

Yes. Fabrication jobs run as work orders with job cards for cutting, fit-up, welding and painting, and the weld records are held in the Quality module.
